Northumberland County Council is running a Green Dog Walkers event at Gallagher Park, Bedlington on Saturday 4 May. The event will provide information, advice and support to dog owners and will take place between 10-1pm.

People will be able to sign up to the scheme, get their dog micro-chipped or check that their dog is properly micro-chipped. They will also be able to collect free poo bags and get advice from the council’s animal welfare officer.

Green Dog Walkers is a scheme which encourages responsible dog ownership. It is a community-led programme aimed at reducing dog fouling by promoting responsible dog ownership across Northumberland.

Dog owners across the county are being encouraged to join the 2,000 residents who have already signed up to the scheme. Those that sign up  pledge to always clean up after their dog,  put the bag in a bin and to use a friendly approach to encourage other dog walkers to do the same.

The South Essex Bark For Life route is a varied route around Canvey Heights Country Park. It’s outstanding estuary views make it the perfect setting for a walk with your canine friends. The course is a mixture of paths, tracks and grass. It is mostly flat but there are some hills offering views of the Thames. The route is parkland with limited footpaths and so may not be suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs in some places.
The event offers two routes, one approximately 5k and the other 10k both starting and finishing at the entrance to the park. This will be signposted on the day. There will be a shortcut at approximately 2/3k, if the shortcut is taken, it may mean missing out some of the obstacles.
Canine obstacles will be placed at various places along the track and will vary in ability.
Meeting Point
The start and finish line will be located at the adjacent Smallgains Park, participants should meet in front of the stage. A registration tent will be available for those wishing to join on the day or for any questions.
On the day
At Bark For Life, dogs and their owners pay an entry fee to take part in the sponsored dog walk around the beautiful Canvey Heights Country Park – other family members are also welcome, the more the merrier! Every registered participant who takes part will receive a medal, doggy bag and a certificate for their dog. Gates open 08:45
On the day there will be;
• Food and refreshments
• Ice cream
• Stalls
• Face painting
• Canine obstacles on the route (optional)
Bark For Life is a chance to spend a few hours with family, friends and your beloved dog(s) in the great outdoors whilst raising those essential funds to help fund life saving research into all 200 types of cancer. Bark For Life honours the life-long support and love our canine friends provide.

Calling all dogs, big and small... it's time to grab your lead and help pets in need!
We invite you and your doggie friends to take part in Bath's biggest dog walk of the year, the 2019 Wag Walk. Join us for a wooftastic walk across the beautiful Bath countryside, starting and finishing at Bath Cats & Dogs Home.
You'll get your very own Wag Walk doggie bandana to wear on the day (this year it will be purple), you'll meet lots of new doggie friends on the way round, you'll receive a tote bag filled with celebratory treats once you've finished the walk, and best of all you'll be helping rescue dogs needing care at Bath Cats & Dogs Home.
The details
Wag Walk starts and finishes at Bath Cats & Dogs Home on our Event Field, access from Claverton Down Road. Sign in is from 8.45am, the walk starts at 9.30am with staggered groups starts every 5 minutes for safety.
Cost is £15 for your dog plus a small online processing fee. Human companions go for free*. If you are entering more than one dog then it is £15 for the first dog, and £5 thereafter for each dog taking part.
Option to take part for sponsorship to help even more dogs in need. Set your own sponsorship target - every pound raised will make a difference!
Two routes to choose from - a 2 mile flat route for young or old paws, or the 5 mile route for a bigger challenge.
The Wag Walk is a family-friendly event and there will be over 250 dogs taking part, so please consider whether the event is right for your dog, before signing up.
The walk will be led and guided by our events marshalls, is fully signposted and all walkers will also receive a map.
Our event photographers Fatima Kenny Photography and Amy Mitchell will be taking pictures during the day. Digital copies will be available to buy after the event with 100% of proceeds to Bath Cats & Dogs Home. Click the image below to see more from Wag Walk 2018.

Fundraising
The entry fee covers the cost of administration and resources for the Wag Walk. To help rescue dogs even more why not get your dog to raise sponsorship? We will send them their own personalised sponsor form to take round to their doggie friends - every pound they raise will make a real difference to a rescue dog's life.
Sponsorship will pay for essential items during an dog's stay with us - like nutritious food, warm cosy bedding, toys for playtime and expert care from our team of trained and compassionate animal carers.

The Agria Dog Walk 2019 is set to unite thousands of paws across six countries, all on one day. Here at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home we are delighted to be taking part in this Europe-wide event to raise money together for the animals that need it most – those currently without a forever home of their own.
This year’s event will be taking place simultaneously in Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, Sweden, and here in Edinburgh – from the Home at 26 Seafield Road East, along the promenade to Joppa.
We’re hoping to get as many feet and paws walking with us along the 3.4-mile route as possible, as for every dog – with their human - that joins us on our walk, Agria Pet Insurance will donate £5 to us!
As well as walking, we'll have a whole of host of other fun activities happening on the day with food, stalls and entertainment at the Home, including dog competitions – so it’s set to be a fantastic day out for all ages!
Remember, the more dogs that join in, the more we can raise and the bigger the difference we can make. You can raise additional funds for us through our Everyday Hero page. Book your place now!
